The AI Manager

A book, a course and a guide by John Margerison

AI, managed by you.

The method for using AI better than the people around you: how to think, what to ask, how to judge what comes back. If you work for someone, it gets you paid more. If you run a business, it gets you your money and your time back. Free to read, eighteen chapters, each with a short film.

I work for someone

A higher salary.
More options.

  • You report to someone, and you want the pay rise or the next job.
  • You cannot change the tools you are given, only how you use them.
  • You are not technical, and you do not want to be.

Start here: read chapter 1, free, ten minutes.

I run a business

More money.
More time.

  • You own or run the business, and the hours are yours to lose.
  • You want more sales, more enquiries, invoices paid sooner, and evenings back.
  • You have no programmer, and you will not hire one for this.

Start here: AI set up in your business, step by step.

Beep at a desk: Put Claude on your desk

New · free

Put Claude on your desk

A free folder for your own computer. Claude reads your AI Bible first, who you are and how you like things done, then does the jobs your way: the reply, the invoice chase, the week’s posts, the draft shown before anything is sent. A desk page on your computer asks What do you need? Four steps, ten minutes, nothing to code. Beep shows you in 79 seconds.

Four minutes, and you will know if this is for you

The method, in a minute

Think. Ask. Assess. Be paid more.

A team, a department, a budget, a business. You decide how you work, and not much else. So everything in the book runs at your own desk, without asking anyone’s permission, and nothing in it asks you to learn to code.

1

Think

The way you think. What the work actually is, and which parts of it were ever yours, before any tool touches it.

2

Ask

The questions you ask. Decide before you ask, then write the brief that says the things it cannot guess.

3

Assess

How you assess what you are given back. Never the first answer. Make it prove itself, score it, and know when it clears your bar.

Tell Beep what you want

Tap one, or type it in your own words. Two words is enough; a line about you and your business makes the answer yours. Beep gives you three ways to get there this month and the first thing to do today, on the next screen, by itself. Nothing is stored.

The author

John Margerison

John Margerison has spent decades running companies and advising the people who run them, and he has never been a professional programmer. For most of his career he thought that was a weakness.

In June 2023 he started using AI seriously and got most of it wrong. Every technique in this book is one he learned by getting it wrong first, on real work, with real consequences. He lives in Santa Monica, California.
